sue redding

Dr Sue Redding B V Sc 

Dr Sue graduated from Queensland University, has previously owned and operated Tallai Veterinary Surgery for 14 years and in 2006/07 completed a medical research commitment at the world leading Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. She founded ExcelVets in 2012.
She is married with three children, 5 grandchildren, one dog (Harley) and a heap of African cichlid fish.
Dr Sue has been involved with numerous sporting groups as well as the Girl Guide and Scouting movements in the Mudgeeraba area. Dr Sue has a passion for netball though her knees do NOT share the same passion. She currently settles for kayaking, bush walking and camping.
Dr Liz Duncan

Dr Liz Duncan B VSc (Hons)

Dr Liz graduated from Sydney University and then spent a couple of fun years working in mixed practice in South Australia before heading to the UK for two years of travel and work. She returned to Australia and has been working on the Gold Coast since 2002.
Liz enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice and has a particular interest in endocrinology and anaesthesia. She continues to enjoy the journey of learning as modern veterinary practice continues to evolve.
Liz lives locally with her family and enjoys travel and travel photography, including seeing (and photographing) Orangutans in a recent trip to Borneo.
Gus, her 15 year old Labrador rescued from the pound recently passed away which has left a hole in her heart and one day, a space in her home for a new pet.
Dr Celeste Finch

Dr Celeste Finch B V Sc

Dr Celeste grew up on a farm in South Africa where she learnt to love and care for all types of animals and subsequently completed her veterinary qualification in 2007. She practiced in her home town of Hermanus before embarking on more veterinary adventures in London. She moved to the Mornington Peninsula near Melbourne with her husband who is also a vet in 2011 and they both worked for a lovely local veterinary clinic for 6 years.
Celeste was also one of the veterinarians involved with some important Koala work on French Island in April 2017.
In 2017, she moved to the Gold Coast with her husband and 2 lovely boys who keep her busy when she is at home.
Celeste loves the active lifestyle here on the Gold Coast and in her spare time loves going for walks with the kids, playing tennis and splashing on the beach.

Dr Cathy Meehan B V Sc

Dr Cathy grew up on a dairy farm in country Queensland. Her favourite animals included Mary the jersey cow and Suzy the pet pig. She subsequently became a Veterinary Surgeon - also along with her husband Dr Rod Meehan.
Dr Cathy has enjoyed the benefits of living and working in countries such as the United Kingdom and Japan as well as Australia (Cathy & Rod were co-owners of a very successful veterinary enterprise on the Gold Coast).
Dr Cathy and her husband have lived on the Gold Coast since 1993 and now have 3 beautiful children, a dog, Penny and two guinea pigs, Cookie and Sooty.
She loves tennis and playing the piano, camping, bike riding, bush walking and spending quality time with her friends and family.
"I am passionate and privileged to be working within a profession that I love and with an amazing, friendly and compassionate team" says Dr Cathy.

Melanie Home – Practice Manager (Cert IV Vet Nurse)

Having always been an animal lover, Mel has been in the industry since 2005 and wouldn't change it for the world. She is fantastic with clients and their pets and nothing is ever too much to ask. She has been at ExcelVets since the beginning and loves to welcome the clients new and old to the clinic.
Originally from Jersey, Channel Islands, Mel has lived on the Gold Coast since 1998 and is proud to call Australia her home.
She lives with her husband Matt, 2 Daughters Jasmine and Ruby, Son Samuel and their pets Timmy, a Cavalier King Charles and Milo, their Burmese.
During her free time, Mel enjoys nothing more than a walk on the beach with Timmy, a coffee with friends or a camping holiday with her family.

Candace Johnston – Head Nurse (Cert IV Vet Nurse)

Candace has always had a strong passion and love for all animals and knew she wanted to work with animals at a very young age.
Candace has been working in the industry since 2012 and completed her Certificate IV Vet Nursing in 2013.
Having come from New Zealand in 2008, Candace now calls the Gold Coast home and shares it with her naughty Beagle "Bella" and two cats, "Rusta" and "Kaos".
Candace has a keen interest in surgical and hospital nursing, and you can be assured that your pet will be super-loved whilst in our care at ExcelVets.
In her spare time Candace loves to foster dogs (until they find their “forever” homes), to travel, go on bush walks through the hinterland, bike rides along the beachfront with "Bella" and going out for social gatherings with friends.
jude mcminn

Jude McMinn – Nurse (Cert IV Vet Nurse)

Jude moved from Sydney to the Gold Coast in 2007. She is Mum to her wild child Lhasa Apso, Sunshine (Sunny) Havok and her crazy cat Betty. 
Jude comes from a personal training background and has an avid interest in kayaking, ocean swimming and cycling. She also likes to pretend she is on MasterChef. 
She completed her Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing in 2014 and is currently studying her Veterinary Nursing Diploma in Surgical Nursing. Her late career change was brought on from caring for her “special needs child” Carnage (a Lhasa Apso Maltese) when she became paralysed. Carnage sadly passed away in 2016.

Renee Birt – Nurse (Cert IV Vet Nurse)

Renee has always been very passionate about animal welfare. She has worked with animals since 2001 and can't imagine doing anything else. She has previously worked as a dog handler for the Australian Quarantine Inspection service, in animal shelters and as a RSPCA trainer.
Her greatest passion is animal behaviour and helping owners and their pets live in harmony. If you have any behaviour questions she'd love to help.
Renee has two teenage daughters. They have a pugulier, 2 guinea pigs and a cockatiel as part of their family.
Renee loves spending time with family. In her downtime, she enjoys bush walking and stand up paddling.
casey greenhalgh

Casey Greenhalgh – Nurse (Cert IV Vet Nurse)

Casey has lived on the Gold Coast her entire life. She joined the team at ExcelVets in June of 2017.
After many years volunteering with wildlife, Casey moved on to working with cats & dogs and gained her certificate IV in Vet Nursing in 2013.
She has always loved being around animals and has a keen interest in birds and exotics.
She lives with her partner and many feathered and furry babies, including 9 birds, Guinea Pigs & other exotics.

Emily Stewart – Trainee Nurse (Cert II Animal Studies)

Emily has been a crazy animal lover all of her life, riding horses since the age of 8! She now competitively competes in show jumping with her beautiful warmblood, Mia.
Emily completed her Certificate II in Animal Studies in 2016, whilst at school and has really appreciated the opportunity to now work part time in the Veterinary industry.
In her spare time, she loves riding her horses, going to the beach with her two dogs, and spending time with her family and friends.
